UCF College of Business promotes a proactive approach to choosing a major and ultimately a career by designing a curriculum and programs to help you land your next opportunity (e.g., internship, job, business start-up, graduate school, etc.) before you leave UCF.
Figuring out what you want to do with your one precious life is a challenging task. There are many possibilities and sorting through them is a daunting task. Many business school students come to us with “fuzzy goals” and hope to narrow their choices as they go through their college years. The problem with this approach is that a late change in your area of study can greatly delay your time to graduation and leave you with gaps in your experience and skillsets as you leave college and enter the marketplace.
The College of Business is a restricted access college, meaning that in order to be accepted into a College of Business major certain criteria must be met. Therefore, admission into UCF does not equate to admission into the College of Business. Once a student applies, or transfers to UCF, students must qualify to be admitted into their intended major and are placed in a “pre” business major until requirements are complete.
Admission into all College of Business restricted-access BSBA programs (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Integrated Business, Management, Marketing and Real Estate) requires:

Based upon the interests and skills identified in GEB 3006 (or GEB 3003 for earlier catalog years) and academic performance in the Primary Business Core classes, students will select and request admission to a specific business major. Due to the highly specialized nature of the Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing majors, interested candidates must show mastery of the subject matter, as demonstrated by a 3.0 GPA in the five Primary Core classes. Additionally, a grade of at least a B “3.0” is required in the introductory course of the desired major, and a minimum grade of C “2.0” is required in each of the five Primary Core classes. Upon admission into the Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing majors, a minimum grade of C “2.0” is required in all coursework in the program. Students must maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA in the Major as well as a minimum 2.0 GPA in the College to successfully complete these programs.
All students, upon successful completion of the Primary Business Core classes with a minimum GPA of 2.0 are eligible to enter the Economics, Integrated Business, and Real Estate majors. Upon admission into the Economics, Integrated Business, and Real Estate majors, students must earn a minimum grade of C “2.0” in all major coursework, and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in the Major and College to successfully complete the degree.
After selecting a specific business major and receiving college approval to enter the major, students will begin taking coursework in their selected major. All business majors require 27 credit hours of coursework in the major. In addition, all students will complete the Secondary Business Core and the remaining three courses in the Career Professional Series. These courses are to be taken concurrently with coursework in the major.
The Secondary Business Core courses are designed to ensure that students have a solid understanding of the various functions of business and the environment in which the enterprise operates. The Secondary Business Core courses are:
In order to prepare students for their post college career, students will also complete the Career Professionalism Series that began with GEB 3006: Career Development and Financial Planning. The Career Professionalism Series includes:
